Company Background

AlphaScrip was founded in 1991 by three business entrepreneurs who had been involved in pharmacy-dispensed sampling and rebate programs since 1971 and who had extensive experience in electronic pharmacy claim processing and pharmaceutical marketing programs. These experiences included the founding of Pharmaceutical Card Systems (PCS), President of the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), executive management positions with McKesson, PCS and Complimentary Prescription Services (CPS), and field sales positions with leading pharmaceutical manufacturers.

AlphaScrip was the product class innovator, being the first company to introduce electronic, online processing of pharmacy vouchers. With over 35 years of successfully administering voucher programs for pharmaceutical manufacturer clients, AlphaScrip’s track record of success is unmatched in the industry. Founder and current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Richard Kennedy, continues to be actively involved in day-to-day operations.

Richard Kennedy

Chairman & CEO

Richard Kennedy co-founded AlphaScrip in 1991 by applying his two decades of knowledge and experience in pharmacy claim processing and pharmaceutical marketing to launch the very first company dedicated exclusively to electronic, online processing of pharmacy vouchers used in alternative sampling and co-pay discount programs.

During his 35 year career in the pharmaceutical business, Richard has held executive management positions at McKesson, PCS Health Systems and Complimentary Prescription Services. Earlier in his career he served in field sales positions with Colgate Palmolive and Fisons. Today, Richard continues to offer his unique vision and leadership as AlphaScrip’s Chairman and CEO.

Bill Kennedy

Director, Sales & Business Development

With close to a decade of experience in pharmacy-dispensed sampling and rebate programs, Bill Kennedy has overall responsibility for AlphaScrip’s sales and business development activities. Working primarily out of the company’s New York City Sales and Marketing office, Bill also plays a lead role in program design and administration as well as client contact and reporting. Prior to coming to AlphaScrip, Bill was Senior Vice President and Group Head at Mizuho Financial Healthcare Corporate Finance. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Southern Methodist University and holds an MBA from Notre Dame.

Raymond Esonis

Director, Marketing

Ray Esonis came to AlphaScrip in 2009 with over 25 years experience as a marketing professional in the pharmaceutical, biotech and software industries. Ray is responsible for planning and executing the company’s marketing and communications activities, and he also assists in overseeing the production of client program materials and vendor relationships. Prior to AlphaScrip, Ray spent 10 years at McKesson Patient Relationship Solutions, where he managed the company’s marketing communications activities as well as the design, production and distribution of materials used in alternative sampling programs, co-pay discount programs, Patient Assistance Programs and various Direct-to-Consumer initiatives. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts.

Michael Kennedy

Director, Operations

Mike Kennedy started with AlphaScrip in 1996 as Manager of Claim Operations, and in 2003 assumed his current role as director of the company’s claim operations and pharmacy network. With almost two decades of experience in pharmacy-based sampling and co-pay discount programs, Mike plays a key role in the design, implementation, administration and reporting of all client programs, and he serves as the primary interface between AlphaScrip and its pharmacy network. Mike is a long-standing member of the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) and participates in several work groups focusing on couponing and e-prescribing. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.
