CASE STUDY 1
Service Offering: Varied Benefit Multi-use Rx Savings Card
Client Challenge: Difficulties in getting patients started on the brand due to prior authorization and formulary challenges and pharmacy switches.
AlphaScrip Solution: Rx Savings Card, a technology based solution, which provides the benefit of either a sample prescription or copay assistance on one card based upon primary claim response and patient insurance coverage on the first fill; all additional fills provide traditional copay assistance benefit.
Claim Volume: Approximately 30,000 paid claims per month
Reimbursement: Approximately $2.5 million in payments per month
Reporting Platform: Daily, weekly and monthly customized brand reports: weekly data integration into manufacturer data warehouse; web-portal reporting access for daily activity updates; ad-hoc reports as required
Results: Provides patients in need of a prior authorization a free starter supply to bridge the PA process and get started on therapy; secondary messaging is also incorporated upon claim submission providing pharmacists additional patient prior authorization support; all other patients receive standard copay assistance benefit based upon business rules. One card solution provides simple sales rep messaging to physician and ensures a patient does not leave pharmacy without a prescription fill due to PA requirement. Analytics show the programs not only helped grow new unique patient starts, but also increased the average lengths of therapy by 3.0 fills – generating a significant program ROI.
CASE STUDY 2
Client Challenge: Maturing brand with an age 50+ patient population attempting to maximize total prescriptions until loss of exclusivity
AlphaScrip Solution: A multi-use copay assistance card requiring activation was put in place minimizing patient out-of- pocket expense. The program also required for AlphaScrip to be integrated with the manufacturer’s patient hub, web site and data analytics vendor.
Claim Volume: Approximately 6,000 paid claim per month
Reimbursement: Approximately $450,000 per month
Reporting Platform: Weekly and monthly customized brand reports: weekly data integration into manufacturer data warehouse; ad-hoc reports as required; data was leveraged for additional patient communication to drive adherence
Results: Average card usage exceeded average patient usages by 4 fills driven by new patient starts as well as patient adherence. Positive ROI resulted in program being continued beyond the loss of exclusivity.
CASE STUDY 3
Client Challenge: Leading prescription drug product was coming off patent. The product was also being reformulated.
AlphaScrip Solution: Developed a free starter supply program targeting physicians and pharmacies to drive patient conversions to the new therapy. This was supported by a co-pay offset program significantly minimizing patient out-of-pocket cost challenges and driving compliance.
